One mom raising her hand to be seen.

431 Ministries exists because one mom was brave enough to raise her hand and ask to be seen.

She did it for her daughter. She did it for herself. And she did it because she knew that despite the manipulation she had just fled from that there were good people who could help.

God used that mom to bring awareness to a problem that many of us had never recognized before. The fact that there was no domestic violence meant that most women's shelters weren't an option, and even to go to the homeless center downtown would have required her to leave her job - pushing her further into crisis.

Ask almost anyone — it takes courage to ask for help. It takes bravery to be vulnerable and admit that things aren't the way you want them. And it takes guts to admit those things to a complete stranger.

Sometimes there is hurt woven into our stories that doesn’t make sense. It’s hard to see past the immediate pain... but God. God used the hurt of one mother, and her bravery in asking for help, to impact many generations to come.

431 Ministries would not exist if that mom didn't raise her hand to be known. To be seen. To be loved. Hundreds of other women have been served because of her courage. And we are so thankful to have been part of her story.

Mom #1; we love you. Thank you.
